2017 St Augustine Greek Festival in Historic District

St. Augustine Greek Festival Oct. 13-15, 2017, Greek flagThe 20th Annual Greek Festival will transport you to a virtual Greek village right here in St. Augustine’s historic district, less than a mile from the Casa de Solana! The weekend of October 13-15, 2017, you won’t want to miss the celebration with Greek music, traditionally dressed folk dancers, home-made Greek dishes and pastries, cooking demonstrations, an outdoor marketplace with artisan vendors, and a Kids’ Olympian Village with games and activities. This annual Festival, hosted by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, honors the importance of Greek culture and influence in St. Augustine and raises money for local charities.

You can watch the Nisiotes and Asteria Greek dancers who will demonstrate a variety of folk dances, and even offer free dance lessons to visitors who want to learn the steps and participate! The Hellenistic Band will perform traditional and contemporary music throughout the festival.

pieces of baklavaHungry? The Kouzina (food line) and Psistaria (grill) will offer all kinds of Greek dishes, from souvlaki to spanakopita. You can stop by a village Kafenio, to drink a Greek coffee and try some of the more than a dozen pastries from kataiffi to koulourakia. The festival website even includes recipes for several classics like Baklava. Thirsty? There’ll be a Taverna where you can sip some Greek lemonade, wine, ouzo, or Metaxa.
