2017 St Augustine Art and Craft Festival November 25-26

multicolored swirling gladd vase with ripple edgeThanksgiving weekend in Saint Augustine includes the famous St. Augustine Art & Craft Festival, with displays by over 150 national and regional artists. Sponsored by the St, Augustine Art Association, this half-century old tradition attracts thousands of visitors, from art collectors to holiday shoppers. One of Florida’s premier juried art fairs, the artists chosen present a wide range of unique fine art works, including painting and photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fiber art, works in glass, wood, mixed media, and more. Festival-goers also will be treated to live music and entertainment by local performers and musicians, presented by the Gamble Rogers Music Festival and Concert Series.

Throughout both days of the Festival, visitors can listen to talks and see demonstrations by some of the professional artists, learning about the use of different media and techniques. These presentations include watercolors and impressionistic landscape oil painting, macro photography and lighting, sculptural pottery and illustrated porcelain, as well as textile art such as silkscreen printing, weaving, and crochet. Visitors stopping by the Historical Village can watch members of the Textile Arts Guild of St. Augustine use Colonial era textile making techniques including spinning, weaving, rug hooking, and basket making. Visit the Festival’s website for additional information, the schedule of both performances and artists’ presentations.
